What is the difference between silicone and saline breast implants?

Currently the FDA approves saline-filled implants for use on an unrestricted basis, while silicone gel-filled implants are used almost as widely (the exceptions can be discussed with Dr. Kim during your consultation.)

All implants come in a few different shapes and textures. Round implants can move freely in the breast pocket without changing the shape of the breast, but some former patients and doctors feel that they don't look as natural as anatomical implants.

Anatomical implants produce a more natural-looking breast, but they can cause an unnatural shape if they move or "flip." In an attempt to prevent this movement, some implants come textured.
