So, your plastic surgery consultation is coming up—think you’re ready for it? Your plastic surgery consultation is your first opportunity to meet your surgeon and learn all about plastic surgery, so it goes without saying that the more prepared you are, the more you’ll get out of your consultation. Your surgeon is a wealth of information, and if you ask the right questions, you’ll be able to leave educated, informed, and with peace of mind. So, let’s get started—here are five tips for preparing for your plastic surgery consultation.

First Up—What Happens During My Consultation

Before we go over some extremely useful tips, let’s talk about what happens in a consultation. Once you’ve started to consider plastic surgery, then your initial consultation is the very first step towards possibly committing to your procedure. Your consultation is your first appointment with your plastic surgeon, and it can very well set the tone for the rest of your plastic surgery journey. Think of it this way: your consultation is more than just an opportunity for you to learn about plastic surgery; it’s a chance for you to get to know your surgeon, a chance to find out what your options are, and it’s a chance for you to come to a conclusion on whether plastic surgery is the right choice for you. You get what you bring into it, and if you answer questions honestly and come prepared, then your experience will be truly worthwhile.

1. Do Your Research

Before your consultation, take some time to research basic details about the procedure you’re considering. The more well-informed you are, the faster you’ll be able to get the basics out of the way and delve into the important details. At the very least, here are some things you should learn about your procedure:

Of course, a lot of what you’ll find will be basic information; thankfully, your surgeon can go into detail during your consultation.

2. Bring Questions

After you’ve done your research, you should have several questions to bring to the consultation. Having questions at hand during your consultation will help you address your most pressing concerns about the procedure. It’s also an excellent way to find out about your surgeon’s qualifications; remember, this is your chance to get to know your surgeon, and before you commit to any plastic surgery procedure you should trust your surgeon completely.

To get you started, here are some questions you could ask your surgeon:

3. Look at Before and After Photos

If you’re still not sure about what your aesthetic goals are, looking at the surgeon’s before and after photos can help you articulate what you want to achieve. Many surgeons try to include a diverse range of patients in their before and after photo galleries, so you should also try to look for patients with the same issues, frame, body type, and skin tone.

4. Your Medical Record

Unfortunately, certain medical conditions and medications increase the risk of complications during and after plastic surgery, so it’s essential that you be honest and forthright about your medical history with your surgeon. Prepare a detailed record of your medical history before your consultation; include any medications you’re taking and conditions you have or have had in the past. You should also be honest about your history of drug and alcohol use.

5. Know Your Motivations

Finally, before your consultation, take some to think everything over and make sure you’re getting plastic surgery for the right reasons. Only you can decide whether plastic surgery is right for you—no one should ever get plastic surgery based on what someone else wants. It’s also crucial that you understand what plastic surgery can do for you and that you have realistic expectations for what it can do.

There you have it: 5 things to do before your plastic surgery consultation. The next step is scheduling a consultation with a renowned plastic surgery practice like Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery. For your first consultation, contact them now or call (310) 746-5439.

Liposuction is one of the more customizable cosmetic surgery procedures available today to improve body contours. Innovative surgical techniques to perform liposuction have made the procedure less invasive.

But the procedure still involves a considerable recovery period, which can vary between two patients, depending on the amount of fat removed and the number of areas treated.

At the time of initial consultation, the surgeon will discuss all aspects of liposuction, including the estimated recovery period. Working people, busy moms and other individuals should make a judicious decision after determining whether they can commit themselves to the full recovery phase and adhere to the surgeon’s post-operative care instructions. plastic surgeon Dr. David Kim provides liposuction to patients in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, and surrounding communities in The Golden State.

Early Post-Operative Phase

After the liposuction surgery, the patient will be shifted to a recovery area where they will be monitored by the nursing staff for some time. Most patients will be able to return home the same day within a few hours, but they should have someone responsible to drive them back home. In exceptional cases, a patient may require an overnight hospital stay.

The patient may consider arranging for aftercare for a few days, particularly if they have little kids to look after. They should take plenty of rest in the first week of recovery, but they should also perform light activities and take short walks at home from the second day of surgery. This will help to improve blood flow in the incision sites.

First Few Days

Just after the surgery, the incision areas will be covered with bandages, or the surgeon may provide an elasticated support corset to protect the wound. The corset should be regularly worn as long as the surgeon advises. Post-operative bruising will begin to resolve from the second week, but swelling will take a longer time to get completely eliminated.

Temporary change of sensation or numbness in the incision areas is likely to occur in some patients, but it will improve over time and resolve completely in most cases. Most patients will be able to return to their normal routine to go back to work after a week or 10 days. Remarkable and committed cosmetic surgeon Dr. Kim receives patients from Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, and other cities and neighborhoods in SoCal for liposuction.

Long-term Recovery

Full results of liposuction body contouring will establish in about three to six months, as the swelling disappears entirely. The patient should refrain from straining the incision sites in the first month and avoid lifting heavy weights or doing vigorous exercises. The contours will gradually firm up in the treated areas over a few months and the patient will start feeling pleased with their enhanced figure.

To ensure that the patient achieves a safe and smooth recovery, the surgeon will instruct them to avoid smoking and using certain medications and blood thinners for a certain period. Follow-up visits to the surgeon’s office should be diligently completed. The patient should eat a balanced diet and maintain an active lifestyle to enjoy sustainable results in the long run.

Over the last decade, liposuction has emerged as the leading cosmetic surgery procedure in the US. Each year thousands of American women and men benefit from this procedure and enjoy enhanced body contours due to reduction of excess of fat tissue from stubborn fat pockets.

During the initial consultation, the surgeon will discuss various aspects of liposuction surgery and help the patient make an informed decision. Some surgeons may also present liposuction body contouring before and after photographs at this time. Prolific and plastic surgeon Dr. David Kim provides liposuction to patients in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, and surrounding communities.

What are Liposuction Before and After Images?

Before and after images in case of liposuction body contouring plastic surgery refer to a pair or group of pictures belonging to a previous patient who has undergone the same surgery successfully. The pictures include images take prior to the surgery and after the surgery at a stage when the post-operative swelling has been resolved and full effects of liposuction are established.

The surgeon will take care to ensure that these pictures are obtained with the proper consent of the patient, and shown to new patients in a discreet manner. The patient’s identity may be kept undisclosed as per the standard norm. The only goal of the surgeon in this exercise is to educate new patients about various aspects of liposuction and its potential effectiveness, using the before and after photos as a visual aid.

Advantages

When a new patient visits the surgeon’s office for liposuction body contouring surgery, they may not have a clear idea of how the procedure may enhance their specific contours. Different liposuction techniques may be recommended for different patients according to their needs.

Some patients may need only limited fat reduction in one area, while some others may require significant fat removal from multiple areas. In some cases, liposuction may be combined with other surgical or non-surgical procedures for more comprehensive results. In each situation, the patient will be better placed to make a choice when they have access to liposuction body contouring before and after photos.

Keeping Realistic Expectations

In a procedure such as liposuction, patients who have a positive outlook, clear aesthetic goals and realistic expectations will typically achieve highest satisfaction levels. The surgeon’s first concern will be to ensure that the patient knows exactly what the procedure can or cannot do for them.

Patients with realistic expectations are often able to appreciate the final outcomes in a better way. The risk of any disappointment occurring after the procedure is mitigated, and this simple effort benefits all parties involved. Tremendous and dependable cosmetic surgeon Dr. Kim receives patients from Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, and nearby areas for liposuction.

Photos on the Website

The surgeon has an option to provide liposuction before and after photos on their practice website for free access to all patients which Dr. Kim does since transparency is vital for any professional who wants to build trust with other people and this website reflects that belief. New patients can review the pictures online in the privacy of their home or office even before they are ready to visit the surgeon’s practice for a personal liposuction consultation.

The real game changer here is virtual technology. The cyber world has made it very easy for any patient to see what to expect during a surgery in the plastic surgery field. In this case, Dr. Kim has enabled anyone to see his work and to be able to apply that idea to their own body benefits everyone under the umbrella – everyone including the surgeon, the staff, the patient, and the patient’s family and possibly even friends.

The ability to predict the future has not been invented yet but with digital pictures and the clarity they offer patients can come close to predicting how this operation will look on them and how this will transform their bodies for the better and probably even their lives. And a patient can make these determinations without one phone call or one conversation with anyone else. How awesome is that? Now a deeply personal topic can be made without anyone knowing what a certain person is thinking.

Many people are under the impression that rhinoplasty is a rather minor cosmetic surgery. However, in reality, rhinoplasty is an intricate procedure, involving delicate nuances which can dramatically impact the overall facial balance.

During the initial consultation, the surgeon will educate the patient about rhinoplasty and discuss the steps involved in the procedure. Some surgeons may also present images or a video of the procedure.

A number of surgical techniques are available today to reshape the nose, but the overall steps in the procedure largely remain unchanged. Patients often feel more confident about the procedure when they have a clear idea of what it will involve. Outstanding, salient, and plastic surgeon Dr. David Kim provides rhinoplasty to patients in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, and surrounding communities across the landscape.

Pre-op Consultation

The first important step in rhinoplasty is the pre-operative consultation, which will lay the foundation for a successful surgery. The surgeon will clear the patient’s concerns and doubts during the consultation, and help them form realistic expectations about it. The surgeon will also examine the patient’s facial and nasal anatomy, skin thickness in the nose area, and the amount of bone and cartilage available in order to plan for a customized surgery.

To determine candidacy, the surgeon will review the patient’s past medical records and may order a few diagnostic tests. Rhinoplasty plastic surgery risks and complications, estimated recovery process, and instructions for preparation and recovery will be discussed during the consultation.

Customized Surgical Plan

Based on the patient’s inputs received during the pre-op consultation as well as the surgeon’s evaluation of the patient’s nasal anatomy and their general health condition, a customized rhinoplasty surgery plan will be created. The surgeon will aim to to achieve targeted outcomes using a least invasive nose surgery approach.

The surgeon will take into account the patient’s specific cosmetic goals and needs with regard to their nose and face. The surgical plan will determine whether an open or a closed rhinoplasty will be performed, the type of anesthesia to be used, the location of incisions, and the choice of operating facility.

Surgical Procedure

Anesthesia

Rhinoplasty may be performed with the patient under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. In case of general anesthesia, an anesthesiologist or a registered nurse anesthetist may be present in the surgery room throughout to monitor the patient’s response. The patient will not feel any pain or discomfort and will have no recollection of the procedure when they wake up.

Surgery

As pre-determined while creating the surgical plan, the surgeon will perform an open or closed rhinoplasty in accordance with the degree of correction required. The surgeon will add, remove or modify nasal tissue, cartilage and bone through the incisions.

Some patients may require silicone implants or cartilage grafts to build the new shape of the nose. In case of open rhinoplasty, the incision will be created discreetly in the columella, whereas closed rhinoplasty will only have tiny incisions inside the nose. Closed rhinoplasty will leave no external scarring.

Incision Closure

The surgeon will close the incisions with sutures once the procedure is completed. Nasal packing may be placed for a few days. Awesome and focused cosmetic surgeon Dr. Kim receives patients from Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, and other suburbs and neighborhoods in The Golden State for rhinoplasty.

Nose reshaping cosmetic surgery will take about two hours in the operating room. But the overall process from preparation to recovery will require a considerable time commitment from the patient. Recovery is a vital part of the process, and the patient should be prepared to go through it in accordance with the surgeon’s advice.

At the time of pre-op consultation, the surgeon will educate the patient about various aspects of rhinoplasty, including the estimated recovery.

Busy and working people can schedule their nose surgery at a time when they can allocate dedicated time for post-surgical recovery. ABPS plastic surgeon Dr. David Kim provides rhinoplasty to patients in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, and surrounding locations.

Guidelines for Recovery

Rhinoplasty is performed as an outpatient surgery. The patient should have someone to drive them back home after the surgery is over. They should also arrange for aftercare for a few days, particularly if they have little kids at home to look after. Working individuals should apply in advance for a week’s leave at their workplace. They may also have to go through another week of limited physical activity at work.

The patient will receive instructions for post-operative recovery after the nose plastic surgery is completed and they are ready to return to home. Following the instructions diligently will help expedite recovery and mitigate post-op risks. Following the surgery, the patient should gradually improve their diet, increase the intake of lean proteins, and stay sufficiently hydrated.

In the first 48 hours after rhinoplasty, the patient should use ice packs to improve swelling. In the first week, the patient should take plenty of rest at home, but should perform short walks and do light activities to increase blood flow in the incision sites.

First 48 Hours

Following nose surgery, the patient will go through some pain and discomfort during the first 24 to 48 hours. The effects of general anesthesia will wear off gradually, and the patient may experience pain in the incision sites, mild headache, and nosebleeds. Bruising and swelling will be pronounced during this period.

During this initial phase, the patient should rest with the head placed at a raised level. Nosebleeds may occur, but the patient should take care not to blow the nose in the early recovery phase. From the second day of the surgery, the patient can take short walks at home and perform light activities.

First Two Weeks

In the first week, the patient should stay confined to the home and allow for the wounds to heal. By the end of first week, the patient may have to visit for a follow-up appointment to the surgeon’s office. Sutures, drains and nasal packing or splint may be removed at this stage.

Bruising will rapidly subside by this time, and most patients can resume their normal routine or return to work. Vigorous activities and lifting of heavy weights should be avoided for two to three weeks. Experienced cosmetic surgeon Dr. David Kim receives patients from Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, and nearby areas for rhinoplasty.

Liposuction body contouring procedure is typically performed as an elective cosmetic surgery to sculpt specific fat pockets. Therefore, the costs of liposuction will have to be borne as an out of pocket expense by the patient. In such a situation, it is paramount for patients to consider the costs carefully to make a judicious decision.

At the time of initial consultation, the surgeon will discuss various aspects of liposuction procedure with the patient, including the estimated costs involved. The first goal of a responsible surgeon will be to educate the patient about the procedure and the cost aspects in order to help them make a well-considered choice.

Patients in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, and other cities and towns across the SoCal horizon have an opportunity to receive liposuction and various other procedures for the breast, body and face from innovative and proven ABPS plastic surgeon Dr. David Kim.

Financial Factors

The cost of liposuction procedure will be impacted by a number of factors, which include:

Size of the Affected Site

Liposuction plastic surgery procedure can be successfully used to eliminate unwanted fat deposits from areas such as the abdomen, breasts, hips, buttocks, thighs, flanks, upper arms, back, neck, calves, knees, and ankles. In case of larger surface areas, higher volume of fat may have to be removed, which increases the length and complexity of the procedure. This may have an impact on the overall costs of the surgery.

Number of Affected Sites

Liposuction can be performed on a single or multiple sites, depending on the patient’s unique anatomical and personal cosmetic needs. In case of higher number of sites or larger fat volume reduction, an overnight stay at the hospital or nursing facility may be required, which would add to the costs.

Choice of Technique

Nowadays a number of advanced and innovative techniques such as ultrasound-assisted liposuction, laser lipo, tumescent liposuction, and super wet technique are available to make the procedure less invasive. The costs can vary to some extent, depending on the type of technique used.

Surgeon’s Fee

Patients should ideally choose a plastic surgeon who would invest in high quality standards and best practices, adopt cutting edge surgical techniques to perform the procedure, and follow the latest safety protocols. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, patients should select the right surgeon for their needs, while elements such as the surgeon’s fee should only be a secondary consideration in such decisions.

Key Financial Facets

While estimating the costs of liposuction, the patient should account for all cost components associated with the procedure in order to correctly plan their budget. These costs will include:

Financing

Patients can make the payment for liposuction surgery in convenient monthly installments if they get the procedure financed through a professional medical care finance firm. Successful and dedicated cosmetic surgeon Dr. David Kim receives patients from Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, and various communities and neighborhoods in The Golden State for liposuction.

According to the recent figures published by the ASPS, liposuction ranks as the number one cosmetic surgery procedure in the US.

Several new techniques have been introduced over the last decade, which have made liposuction less invasive and more targeted. These include ultrasound assisted liposuction, tumescent liposuction and super wet liposuction.

Liposuction can remove unwanted fat deposits and sculpt areas such as the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, upper arms, neck, chin, cheeks, and knees. State of the art and dependable ABPS plastic surgeon Dr. David Kim provides liposuction to patients in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, and other cities and communities in this part of Southern California.

Candidacy

Ideal candidates for liposuction would be adults with moderate and stable body weight and fairly elastic skin. These individuals can achieve most effective body contouring results with liposuction. The candidate would be bothered by the appearance of stubborn fat pockets in specific areas of the body, which have become resistant to diet and exercise.

The candidate should be in appropriate general health to sustain the plastic surgery as well as anesthesia, but age itself is not a major consideration for liposuction. Candidates should be non-smokers or committed to quit the habit for at least a certain time period specified by the surgeon.

Procedure

Liposuction is usually performed as an outpatient procedure, but if large volume of fat is to be removed or the procedure is combined with other surgeries, an overnight hospital stay may be required. In many cases, Dr. Kim will recommend general anesthesia to ensure complete patient comfort, while a significant amount of body sculpting can be performed as necessary.

However, if only a small volume of fat is to be removed from just one or two sites in the body, local anesthesia with IV sedation may be used. Tumescent technique is typically performed using only local anesthesia and sedation. The duration of the surgery can vary depending on the extent of fat removal, the type of surgical technique and the number of fat reduction sites involved.

The surgeon will begin the procedure by creating a small incision in the marked area. A thin cannula will be inserted through the incision to reach the deeper fat layers. The surgeon will gently manipulate the cannula to dislodge the fat cells. Once the fat cells are loosened, they will be suctioned out with a vacuum pump or syringe attached to the outer end of the cannula.

Some loss of blood and fluid will occur during this procedure. The fluids will be replaced with intravenous infusions during and immediately after the surgery. Tumescent technique, ultrasound technique and laser technique can sometimes be used to help remove the fat more easily, reducing the tissue trauma and blood loss.

Recovery

The patient is likely to experience mild pain, bruising, swelling, and temporary numbness in the incision sites following liposuction. The surgeon will prescribe pain medications for a few days to keep the patient comfortable. Outstanding and adroit cosmetic surgeon Dr. Kim receives patients from Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, and other cities and suburbs in this part of country for liposuction.

Nose is a centrally prominent part of the face, and not only affects the facial aesthetics but also facial balance and harmony. Therefore, rhinoplasty or nose cosmetic surgery can have a dramatic impact on the facial appearance. At the time of initial consultation, the surgeon will discuss about all aspects of rhinoplasty to educate the patient.

Some surgeons may also present rhinoplasty before and after photographs during the first consultation. This can help a patient understand the potential effectiveness of rhinoplasty as a cosmetic facial procedure. ABPS plastic surgeon Dr. David Kim provides rhinoplasty to patients in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, and surrounding communities.

What are Rhinoplasty Before and After Photographs?

Before and after photographs in case of rhinoplasty refer to a pair or group of pictures belonging to a previous patient who has undergone the same surgery with a successful outcome. The pictures include photos taken prior to the surgery and after the surgery at a stage when the post-operative bruising and swelling has been resolved and full new shape of the nose has firmed up.

The surgeon will take care to ensure that nose plastic surgery before and after photographs are obtained only with the proper consent of the patient and presented before new patients in a discreet manner. The patient’s identity may be kept undisclosed as necessary. The surgeon’s only purpose in this exercise is to use these photos as a visual tool to explain to new patients about what rhinoplasty can or cannot do for them.

Benefits

The face is the most visible part of the body, and patients are naturally concerned whenever they want to alter or improve any area of the face using cosmetic surgery. Some patients may only require minor improvements to the nose shape, while some others may need a major nose reshaping or resizing.

In some cases, rhinoplasty may be combined with other procedures such as chin augmentation or reduction to create better facial balance. In each case, the patient is better placed to make the right decisions when they have access to rhinoplasty before and after photos.

This will be mentioned below but it cannot be emphasized enough which is digital technology. Digital technology has changed the game across the spectrum touching just about every industry including this one. The plastic surgery industry has embraced this technology and the amazing pictures found online are a testament to this.

Now any patient can see what they are contemplating. These rhinoplasty pictures are amazing and enable someone to predict the future since they can apply what they see on the digital screen to their own situation. A patient can use their smart phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop to get this done. They can see these pictures anywhere there is Internet access. This makes this decision that much easier. They no longer have to rely so much on the spoken word, they can see for themselves!

Keeping Reasonable Expectations

Experienced surgeons know that patients with a positive mindset, clear cosmetic priorities and reasonable expectations will usually achieve the best satisfaction levels from a procedure such as rhinoplasty. Therefore, the surgeon may prefer to provide rhinoplasty before and after photos at the very first appointment. They will encourage the patient to review as many photos as required, and then make a judicious decision.

Patients with realistic expectations will often be able to appreciate the final results in a better way, and feel good about their new shape of the nose and face. This simple effort also mitigates the risk of any disappointment occurring for the patient at the last minute when it may be too late to reverse the procedure.

Online Photos

The surgeon has an option to provide rhinoplasty before and after photos on their practice website as well as disseminate them via photo sharing social media networks which Dr. David Kim does – the website has a plenitude of pictures on it. Rhinoplasty currently ranks among the most sought-after cosmetic surgery procedures in the US. The procedure may sometimes be used to perform functional corrections, but it is largely designed for aesthetic improvements. When performed for cosmetic reasons, the costs of rhinoplasty will be an out-of-pocket expense for the patient.

During the pre-op consultation, a dedicated surgeon will educate the patient about all aspects of rhinoplasty, including its estimated costs. Patients can review and plan their budget and make a well-considered choice about going ahead with rhinoplasty. The judicious and tremendous Dr. David Kim is an ABPS plastic surgeon providing nose surgery and various other procedures to patients in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, and surrounding locations across the horizon.

Surgeon’s Fee

The fee charged by the plastic surgeon is an important component in the overall costs of rhinoplasty. This cost can vary according to the skills and experience of the surgeon. surgeons often invest a lot to deliver a completely satisfying and successful treatment experience to their patients.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, patients should choose the best surgeon for their needs, and factors such as the surgeon’s fee should only be a secondary consideration in this decision.

Operating Venue

The surgeon will usually have an option to perform nose plastic surgery at one of these three surgical facilities: a hospital, an accredited surgery center, and a private surgical suite. The costs and benefits associated with each option will vary. Surgical centers are a popular option nowadays because they provide similar quality and safety standards as hospitals and are relatively more affordable.

Anesthesia Costs

If rhinoplasty is performed using general anesthesia, it will involve the services of an anesthesiologist or a certified nurse anesthetist. They will charge their fee usually by the hour, and the fee can vary depending on their qualifications and experience. The anesthesiologist will remain present throughout in the surgery room to monitor the patient’s response to anesthesia.

Extent of Surgery

Sometimes the overall costs of rhinoplasty surgery can vary from one patient to another at the same practice. Some patients may only require limited corrections such as removal of a nose bump. But some other patients may need major improvements such as straightening of a crooked nose, reducing the overall size of the nose, or nose reconstruction following an injury.

Procedures such as cartilage grafting or nose implants may sometimes be involved, which will add to the costs. Reliable and percipient cosmetic surgeon Dr. David Kim receives patients from Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, and other cities and suburbs in this part of The Golden State for rhinoplasty.

Insurance and Financing

If rhinoplasty is medically necessary to correct breathing obstructions from the nasal airways, the procedure may be fully or partially covered by health insurance. Congenital deformities and injury repair of the nose may also be covered by insurance.

In other cases, where rhinoplasty is performed as an elective cosmetic procedure, patients will have an option to get the procedure financed through professional medical care finance companies. These companies provide competitive interest rates, quick loan approvals and convenient monthly installments of up to 60 months.

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty, commonly known as nose reshaping surgery, is a popular cosmetic surgery designed to improve the shape or size of the nose in harmony with other facial features. Rhinoplasty is primarily used to enhance nose aesthetics, but may also be performed to correct functional problems such as nasal airway obstructions.

Congenital nose deformities and nose injuries can be correct with reconstructive rhinoplasty, while previous surgery can be improved with revision rhinoplasty procedures.

Ethnic rhinoplasty may be performed for patients with specific ethnic nasal characteristics. Impressive and committed ABPS plastic surgeon Dr. David Kim provides rhinoplasty to patients in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, and surrounding locations in this part of SoCal.

Candidacy

People who are unhappy with their existing shape or size of the nose, and want to achieve cosmetic corrections such as reduction or increase in the size of the nose, refining the nasal tip, removing a bump from the nose bridge, narrowing the nostril span, or altering the angle between the nose and the upper lip, can be good candidates for rhinoplasty plastic surgery.

Patients with nose injury, birth defects or breathing issues through the nostrils can also benefit from rhinoplasty. An ideal candidate will have a positive state of mind, clear goals, and realistic expectations. The candidate should ideally be above the age of 18, but in specific cases, teenagers may be considered for rhinoplasty.

Procedure

Rhinoplasty is typically performed as an outpatient procedure, but in exceptionally complex cases, the patient may need a short in-patient stay at the surgical facility. Depending on the extent of surgery involved, the procedure may be performed using general anesthesia or local anesthesia with light sedation. The procedure is usually completed in less than two hours.

Open and closed techniques can be used to perform rhinoplasty. If only limited corrections to the nose are involved, the surgeon may recommend closed rhinoplasty. This can be performed by placing small incisions inside the nostrils. The advantage is that no scarring will be visible on the outside, and the surgeon will perform the corrections through the incisions within the nostrils.

However, if significant modifications to the nose shape or size are involved, the surgeon may have to choose open rhinoplasty. This will require a small incision of about 4 to 5 mm to be placed on the columella, which is the thin strip dividing the nostrils.

Through this discreetly placed incision, in addition to tiny incisions within the nostrils, the surgeon will manipulate the tissue, cartilage and bone to make the required improvements to the nose appearance.

Dr. Kim will prefer to adopt closed technique when only minor improvement such as mitigating a nose bump is required. But if nose tip requires reshaping or another major surgery such as nose augmentation or reduction is involved, he will choose the open approach to have better surgical exposure. Accomplished cosmetic surgeon Dr. Kim receives patients from Beverly Hills, Los Angeles and nearby areas for rhinoplasty.

Most patients will be able to return to their normal routine in about one week after rhinoplasty. However, full establishment of results and complete recovery will require several weeks.
