Attention: The new wave to eliminating excess fat has finally arrived.

Or has it?

Although it is still in it’s experimental stages, lipodissolve is believed by some to be the new medical technology of the future pertaining to liposuction procedures.

Dr. Kim and Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery DO NOT and WILL NOT perform the lipodissolve procedure.  The procedure does not have the approved knowledge of the FDA, and without that, we cannot trust this procedure yet.  Dr. Kim has and will continue to perform various other types of liposuction procedures and does so with satisfied patients and outstanding results.

The lipodissolve procedure reflects its name in that it uses a series of injections meant to ’dissolve’ away small fat deposits.  The procedure is fairly safe, though it’s still questionable due to the fact that it lacks a standard ingredient list.  Each doctor may be using different ingredients for the lipodissolve procedure, making it somewhat risky.

It’s also of great concern that it is not entirely known as to where the fat goes once it’s dissolved.  Since the fat is not literally being taken out of the body, some doctors, like Dr. Kim, wonder where the fat actually going.

Plastic surgery comes in two types, reconstructive and cosmetic. The common surgery known as rhinoplastycan actually fall under both types, but in most cases it is actually performed as a cosmetic surgery more often than not. Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to improve the appearance of the nose.

If you are a patient that is unhappy with the appearance of your nose and/or are looking to have it reshaped in any way so that it will be more aesthetically pleasing, then rhinoplasty is going to be the best procedure for you to correct any abnormalities.

Rhinoplasty is quite intricate in that a lot goes into the procedure itself, and yet it’s still considered a fairly simple surgery. In most cases, depending on the type of surgery that you’re actually having, patients are only in recovery for about a week and can expect a rather small amount of bruising and swelling during that week.

The surgery itself is not a particularly painful which remains to be the reason so many people are opting to have it done. In fact, if you are an avid reader of most celebrity magazines you will notice how many actors, models, and singers are having the rhinoplasty procedure done themselves.

If you have any questions about rhinoplasty and/or the rhinoplasty procedure you can contact a cosmetic surgeon. Dr. Kim is a plastic surgeon providing his expertise to the Beverly Hills area. For more information please visit Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery.

There are two types of plastic surgery being offered the patients today, cosmetic and re- constructive. In addition to those, there are actually many different sub-specialties associated under these two main categories. Most people are quite familiar with cosmetic surgery, as it has become the more popular of the two in recent years. But, what do you know about reconstructive surgery?

There are various situations in which reconstructive plastic surgery would be necessary. Functional impairments that are caused by burns, traumatic injuries, congenital abnormalities, infection or disease, or removal of cancers or tumors would require reconstructive surgery. Each case like this warrants reconstructive plastic surgery to take place and this type of surgery can positively affect the outcome of the person’s way of life.

Reconstructive plastic surgery is mainly used to repair functional impairments and second to that is to try and restore some normalcy to the patient’s appearance. A few common procedures that are performed quite frequently include breast reconstruction, cleft lip and palate surgery, contracture surgery, and creating a new outer ear when one is absent. There are also many other re-constructive surgery procedures that can and have been done, though these are just a few of the most common ones performed.

Undergoing a tummy tuck or otherwise know as, abdominoplasty, can be a scary thought. But with the right information regarding the procedure, most patients find themselves quite comfortable with the idea.

The purpose for a tummy tuck is to make the abdomen area more firm. The reasoning behind this is usually a direct cause of the patient having loose or sagging skin from either a pregnancy or major weight loss. Each of the above causes reflect the most common reasoning for receiving a tummy tuck.

A few different types of abdominoplasty are available to patients and the main difference in each is due to the extent of the surgery itself. The four different types of procedure are complete, partial, extended, and a combination abdominoplasty. A complete abdominoplasty is just that. A partial tummy tuck, otherwise known as a ’mini-tuck’, has a smaller incision with less fat taken out in comparison to a complete tummy tuck. An extended abdominoplasty is a tummy tuck that extends down into the thighs. Last but not least is a combination abdominoplasty, which can actually be combined with liposuction and/or a breast lift/reduction. Each type of tummy tuck has their own purpose and your plastic surgeon will know which one is going to be best for your condition.

When considering undergoing a plastic surgery procedure, it’s natural to focus more on the expected result than on the actual surgical process itself. However, it’s quite crucial to know the safety of the procedure as well as its expected outcome prior to. Although thousands of people have plastic surgery every year without complications, you have to also keep in mind that no surgical procedure is risk-free.

To maximize safety, make sure to be fully knowledgeable of the following:

• Whether or not your surgeon is an ASPS Member Surgeon – This ensures that your surgeon obtains at least five years of surgical training – with a minimum two years of that dedicated to plastic surgery; and that they are by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
• The facility in which your surgery will take place conforms to strict safety standards – ASPS Member Surgeons can only operate in accredited facilities.
• Your surgeon is informed of any drugs you are taking and your full medical history, especially if you have had any circulation disorders, heart or lung ailments or problems with blood clots;
• That the surgical facility will use experienced, licensed personnel to administer and monitor your anesthesia as well as your recovery immediately following your procedure.
• The ability to have extra safety measures taken if you are having a more extensive liposuction procedure.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), is an organization of plastic surgeons who are dedicated to the highest standards of patient care. Good credentials will not guarantee a successful outcome; however, they will significantly increase the likelihood of it.

With breast surgeries becoming more and more popular, it’s time we all learn a little more about them. This knowledge could help you in your decision of whether or not you’re prepared to undergo such procedures.

A ’full mastopexy’ is a widely used technique due to its great success in producing a perfect shape and readjusting the position of the breast. During this particular procedure, any excess skin is removed and the position of the breast is adjusted as well as the size of the areola. This technique will ultimately leave a scar in three separate locations: the peri-areolar area, the inframammary fold and a vertical incision from the areola to the crease.

A ’breast lift’ is a surgical procedure used to improve the general appearance of the breast. Mastopexy is a more technical term for this procedure. If the breasts are sagging or drooping, having a mastopexy performed will lift the breast as well as reposition the nipple and areola. In the event that a patient decides they would like to have implants inserted, in addition to this procedure, in order to enlarge the breasts, it then becomes known as a breast augmentation rather than just a basic lift.

Modified breast lifts’ pertain to any other breast lift technique. A few can be performed to help minimize the amount of scarring that normally occurs with a full mastopexy. A ’donutbreast lift is a technique where scarring is only found around the areola. Similar to this is the ’crescentmastopexy, which also has scarring only around the areola. The main difference between the two is that the ’crescentbreast lift removes more tissue from the area above the areola. The last ’M.B.L.’ technique is the ’lollipoplift. This procedure uses an incision around the nipple and extends down to the crease beneath the breast. Using modified breast lifts will generally leave you with less scarring in any case though. The only con that comes associated with these is that they don’t create as much of a change as a full breast lift will.
